Acacia catechu is a deciduos, thorny tree which grows up 10 to m in height. The Plant is called Khair in Hindi Kachu in Malay, hence the name was Latinized to ''catechu'' in Linnaean taxonomy, as the type-species from which the extracts cutch and catechu are derived.
Unique identification feature
The extract catechu or Kathh is used in Medicine, Dye and Preservative, as an ingredient of Pan and Pan Masala.
